Man's death under investigation

Police are investigating the death of Melvin Crenshaw, found about a block from his home with apparent head trauma near a Near West Side Chicago Housing Authority development, according to a report on the WBBM-AM Web site. Crenshaw, 54, of West Hastings Street, was discovered at 1300 S. Throop St. and was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital at 9:20 a.m., according to a Cook County Medical Examiner's office spokesman, who said Crenshaw suffered apparent blunt head trauma but whose manner of death was awaiting police investigation.
